This award is to be offered to outstanding PhD students in the last year of their thesis/doctorate to allow them to attend the ICCT conference. The award is expected to be available every two years. The students’ theses/dissertations must be presented/defended not later than 12 months after the time of the ICCT conference where the students will present their work, and this time-frame has to be confirmed by their respective supervisors
The award is $1000 towards travel and subsistence to attend the ICCT-2012 conference, plus a waiver for conference registration fees.
The Henry V. Kehiaian Travel Award for outstanding advanced students will be formally presented by the International Association of Chemical Thermodynamics (IACT). It is an award in the field of chemical thermodynamics and is meant to stimulate and encourage outstanding students to enter the field, to facilitate scientific contacts with the international thermodynamics community, and to thereby promote the discipline. The award is named after Henry Vartan Kehiaian (1929-2009), an internationally acknowledged thermodynamicist, whose dedication to science was legendary: it ranged from experiment to theory to world-class data banks for thermodynamic and other thermophysical properties to bibliographic work. He was a leading scientist in the promotion of accurate data acquisition and dissemination through high quality publications and modern media. He created concise acronyms, and he was an ambassador for our discipline with a contagious joie de vivre , and was always looking for promising students to help and support. While his criticism was always direct to the point, it was also always honest and constructive . H. V. Kehiaian was a man of the world, a thermodynamicist without borders, speaking 9+ languages, and he was also the father of the ICCTs, with the first conference being held in Warsaw, Poland, in 1969. All of these aspects will be kept alive by this travel award bearing his name.
The Kehiaian family will initially provide the financial means for travel awards for two PhD students wishing to attend the 22nd ICCT in 2012.

3) An official corroborative statement by the dissertation supervisor that the PhD/dissertation will definitely be finished (including defense) within 12 months after the ICCT conference, i.e. before April 5, 2013, in the case of the 22nd ICCT.
