Election of 5 Directors to serve from 2010 to 2014 on the Board of the International Association of Chemical Thermodynamics

There are 5 vacancies to be filled on the Board of Directors by election at a meeting in Tsukuba, Japan, during the IUPAC Conference on Chemical Thermodynamics (ICCT) this summer. The five Directors whose terms are ending this year are Theo de Loos (Netherlands), John Dymond (UK), Michael Frenkel (U.S.A.), Trevor Letcher (South Africa/U.K.) and Eckhard Vogel (FR Germany).

The Nominations Committee [Professor Ron Weir (Canada), Chairman, Prof. Trevor Letcher (South Africa/U.K. and Professor Jean-Pierre Grolier (France) ] has prepared a slate of five nominees. In alphabetical sequence, the nominees are :

• Dr. Robert (Rob) Chirico (U.S.A.)
• Professor Josefa (Pepé) Fernandez (Spain)
• Professor Luis Galicia-Luna (Mexico).
• Professor Manual Minas de Piedade (Portugal)
• Professor Derish Ramjugernath (South Africa).

All five nominees have agreed to allow their name to stand for the elections and have agreed to serve as Director if elected.

In accordance with the Constitution, this slate is being communicated to all thermodynamicists who have attended past ICCTs or will be attending the 2010 ICCT. It is their right, if they so wish, to submit the names of additional nominees, on written petition of at least ten thermodynamicists. This must reach the Secretary, with a copy to the Chairman, Professor Anthony Goodwin, agoodwin@sugar-land.oilfield.slb.com  by May 23 rd 2010.

If the total number of nominations exceeds the number of vacancies, the full list will then be communicated to ICCT attendees at least one month in advance of the Conference, together with biographical statements, which they have prepared.
